Equal Opportunities for 2010 Prom

These days proms can get really expensive, but here at Choctaw High School the students on Junior Board are doing whatever they can to make prom more affordable for everyone. Mrs. Tye and Mrs. Cuevas are in charge of Junior Board. They feel by making Prom less expensive, more students will be able to go. “It isn’t fair for students who can’t afford to buy a ticket to be excluded from Prom just because of the economy,” said Mrs. Tye.

Prom is for upperclassmen, but Freshman and Sophomores are
allowed to go if properly escorted by a Junior or Senior.  There is a strict admittance policy and Mr. Black has to give the “okay.”

Prom is not a school funded project, the whole staff helps; including teachers and coaches. Prom night is April 17, and is located at OCCC. If you can’t afford to buy a dress or a tux, Junior Board is willing to help. Just stop by Mrs. Tye’s room in the freshman center and let her know what is going on. The goal if for anyone who wants to go to prom to have the opportunity.

As of right now, the theme and how much the tickets cost have not been established . Junior Board will decide sometime within the next couple of weeks. They will have meetings every Wednesday morning in tutorial until Prom.
