Custodial staff keeps school sparkling
Steve Lankford, Robert Muse, Andrew Bellflower, Robert Masoner, and Sean Dooley. These names, who are they, and what do they do? Unless your a faculty member or perhaps a relative, then you most likely don’t have the answer. Those are the names of the people who maintain our hallways, keep up with maintenance, and make our restrooms usable. “These people” are our janitors.
Every day students go into the clean restrooms, or even simply throw away trash into empty garbage cans. What some may not realize is who made this possible. The men of the custodial staff staff are who need to be considered in the day to day at school.
After speaking with members of the custodial staff, one could immediately tell that they take pride in their work. Masoner, in his sixth year, said that the best part of his day is seeing a smile. “ that’s always great.” After talking with him for a short while, you realize how much pleasure he takes in his job. The vibe he gives draws people to him, making him a very inviting, friendly person. The only complaint he had was a single word: dirt.
After cleaning over seventy-six rooms, sweeping up to six hallways, and emptying almost 100 trash cans, the janitors are still as peppy as ever.
As for the continuation of a clean school, the men said that Choctaw High School has nothing to worry about as long as they are here.
